Countdown to Baby Herrera - 4 days & counting

Well is only 4 days & counting until we meet our little angel.Hopefully she will arrive on time, although the joke at the moment is that she will make her appearance on Tuesday when Miguel will be attending his work Xmas party!

Unfortunately Seb (rabbit) is no longer with us,we had to find him a new home due to baby`s imminent arrival. Thought it was kinder to him as he wouldn`t have received the attention he deserves. He has gone to a rescue centre in the Durham Dales where am sure he`ll be very happy. Will miss him loads.

It was our wedding day. So today was our first wedding anniversary, paper for those who may not know.
It consisted of...a sea cadet marching band, market stalls,an aged crooner, sheepdogs, vikings and coffee, beef dripping, scampi and deserts. Strange to you, meaningful to us.

Trip to Sheffield

A very nice looking big wheel, but it would have been nicer if it wasn't outside my window. The Sheffield Peace Gardens IBMT memorial plaque, glad I have finally seen it. A very strange block of flats on the ring road. And a very interesting car park, that also has courtesy umbrellas.

...Summers as a child

Whatever happened to those endless summers from schooldays. The ones that lasted for ever, that seemed to never end, daily sunshine pouring down on days in the park, on your bike, with your friends. Finding new interests, pursuing ones neglected. Surviving on 50p and a bottle of pop, walking, running, cycling for miles on end, adventuring further and further afield with each year of boldness.
I miss those endless skys.

Trip to London #4...The Verdict

Well the transport all worked to plan, train, Tube, walking. Even the delay at suppliers did not supper plans and schedules, all in all a successful trip. The return journey is currently in progress, any problems will be swiftly swore at. Home in time to see Usain Bolt demolish pre-conceptions (if there were still any) in the 200 metres, hopefully.

Trip to London # 4

journey to London has not properly started and snags have already been encountered.
Amazingly, out of the 8 local taxi company's I rang to organise getting to the train station, only 1 could get me anywhere near the time I needed, but it still would have left me waiting at the station for 45 minutes. What can be keeping them so busy at 6:30 in the morning?

We now know we are having a girl, on or around the 20th of December.

Holidays...outbound.

Not anyone's fault. But we are delayed 40 minutes due to bad weather and "the delay of the inbound aircraft" bugger.

The worrying face of technology...

It's very impressive agreed, but worrying it could take over the world!

A Thought...

Imagine if everyone you knew was half the height they are. Would you now be taller than everyone or still one of the smallest?
(thanks to Abbie Lloyd for this imponderable.)

Trip to London #3, Parts 2 & 3 ... Live! & The Return

Trip to London 3 - Part 2.
Spot the similarity to the last Trip to London...
Yes National Express East Coast (nee GNER) is just as incapable of joining up train arrivals/departures to create a seamless journey too.
It really can't be that difficult surely, can it?love

The start field,TV coverage helicopters and winners of the Bupa London 10,000 or another day at work standing in a road.

Trip to Manchester #1...

The Great City Games,Manchester.
Home to the worlds fastest man, Usain Bolt, sprinting 150 metres down Deansgate, in the heart of Manchester City Centre.
The finish straight, start straight and a birds-eye view from the 25th floor of the Deansgate Hilton.

And they are my feet standin on a single pain of glass 23 floor above Deansgate.

Some times working in the glamorous world of TV is not as glamorous as everyone thinks.
Our "van" for filming the worlds fastest man, Usain Bolt, running on a city centre sprint track, that I will not get to see in person.

The Sticky Toffee Pudding Horror…

There is nothing quite so disappointing as to have perused a desert menu, in all it’s calorific tempting glories, only to have your dilemma fraught decisions dashed with “…it’s off.”

The Short Nosed Shovelled Bill Tunnel Duck…

A very rare sight on the lakeshores and riverbanks of Great Britain. Due mainly to its depletion in recent years coinciding with the rise in popularity of thick cut bread. A problem to the tunnel duck due mainly to its small ingress bill being far too narrow to allow the consumption of thick cut slices.

A ponder/poem…

Is the saddest loss,
a cowboy can suffer,
the death of his horse,
or his mother?

Things from my childhood…

  1. Old men in suit jacket’s on bike’s carrying bags of coal
  2. Blue, 3 wheeled, single seater disability cars.
  3. Teenage boys on the back of milk floats.
  4. The Villa pop truck delivering bottles of pop door to door.
  5. Money back deposits on glass bottles.
  6. White dog poo.
  7. Children on bikes pretending to be motorbikes with the use of plastic bottles/drink cartons rattling on wheel spokes.
  8. Girls playing skipping with elastic band strings.
  9. Hopscotch grids drawn on the pavement.
  10. Children playing British Bulldogs, Hide & Seek & “Tig”.
